My name is Kristen Lewis. I am an artist, writer, and PhD candidate in the department of Art History at Concordia University. Supported by a SSHRC CGS Doctoral Scholarship, my research interrogates the politics of spectator participation in contemporary art, focusing on how data-driven interactive and immersive technologies challenge the capacity spectators have to refuse participation.
Je rejoins l’équipe Hypothèses en tant que coordinatrice générale pour la saison 2024-2026 et je me réjouis de collaborer avec étudiantes et étudiants de Montréal pour organiser des panels dynamiques mettant en avant la recherche émergente en Histoire de l’art.
Je m’appelle Félix Sheedy Gosselin. Je poursuis présentement à l’UQAM ma deuxième année de maîtrise sous la direction de Thérèse St-Gelais. Je m’intéresse à la théorie queer, aux épsitémologies féministe et à l’art moderne. Mon projet de recherche propose, plus précisément, une relecture queer des sculptures d’Eva Hesse.
I joined the Hypothèses team as a finance co-coordinator and I am very excited to be able to play a particular role in Montreal’s art history scene. Thanks to my position, I will be able to keep alive a beautiful tradition of cooperation and exchange between the multiple universities that make Hypothèses the influential conferences that it is.
Je m’appelle Sarah Lapierre. Je suis étudiante à la maitrise en histoire de l’art à l’Université de Montréal en deuxième année sous la direction de Ersy Contogouris. À l’intersection de la recherche et de la recherche-création, mon mémoire porte sur la technique de la lépidochromie, soit l’impression depuis et par les ailes de papillons. Travaillant depuis les études matérielles, la lépidochomie me permet d’étudier l’atelier d’artiste se dédoublant en laboratoire.
For me, it is a priority to break the feeling of isolation associated with academic research in art history, to emphasize the importance of fostering social connections within our discipline, and to encourage sharing. This is what drives me to join the new Hypothèses team. It is a genuine pleasure for me to contribute to maintaining our conferences as a space for inter-university meetings in my role as an event coordinator.
I am an art history master’s student at Concordia University (Tiohtià:ke/Montreal). My master’s thesis is looking at issues in the documentation and theorization of political performance art. I also have a broad interest in the arts and in questions relating to culture. My interest in hosting Annexe(s) stems from a genuine desire desire to encourage more discussions across different research fields and approaches to understanding art
I am Alexandra Tsay, an independent curator and a PhD student in Art History at Concordia, working under the supervision of Dr. Alice Ming Wai Jim. My research focuses on contemporary artistic practices in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. I am interested in methods of global art histories, the role of aesthetic production in subject formation, and artistic epistemes that problematize the power-knowledge connection.
J’ai rejoint l’équipe d’Hypothèses en tant que coordinatrice de la communication car j’y vois une plateforme pour un échange intellectuel dynamique avec des collègues chercheurs à Montréal, et je suis enthousiaste à l’idée de contribuer à cette communauté et de m’y engager.
Je m’appelle Frédérique Anne Audet. J’étudie à la maîtrise en histoire de l’art à l’Université de Montréal ; mon mémoire porte sur la photographie contemporaine et surtout sur l’intrication des approches documentaires et expressives au Québec. En parallèle de mes recherches, je travaille comme auxiliaire de recherche et d’enseignement tant en art contemporain qu’en art moderne.
C’est la volonté d’assurer le dialogue interuniversitaire et l’espoir de faire parvenir la discussion à des publics plus vastes qui m’ont amenée à m’impliquer au sein du comité Hypothèses ; j’y occupe le poste de co-responsable des finances.
I am Mehrnoosh Alborzi, an Iranian Canadian emerging writer and art historian, among other things. Currently, I am pursuing my MA in art history at Concordia University under the supervision of Dr. Rebecca Duclos. My research interests include alternative artistic practices, insurgent spaces, transnationalist solidarities, and anything from the sixties and the seventies.
I joined the Hypothèses team as a podcast coordinator because I’m passionate about collaborating with like-minded individuals and fostering spaces for meaningful exchange. I believe in the power of shared experiences and open dialogue. In my role, I aim to enrich the dynamism and strengthen the connections within Montreal’s art history community..
Je suis tout nouvellement étudiante au doctorat en histoire de l’art à l’Université de Montréal. Sous la direction de Denis Ribouillault, mes recherches portent sur les stratégies de production d’artistes femmes en Italie à l’époque baroque.Pour cette année, je renouvelle mon mandat de responsable du site web afin de continuer à participer au rayonnement des recherches étudiantes en histoire de l’art et en muséologie.
